Twine is of the most popular engines for creating engaging interactive fiction (or “IF”). Beginner users can easily make an entire IF with one of Twine’s pre-made templates and very simple linking system, while advanced users can make full use of Twine’s feature set to make complex stat or branch tracking interactive narratives. The engine uses HTML so games can be played directly on web and further customized with CSS templates.

Runs on: Twine 1.4: Windows, Mac | Twine 2: Windows, Mac, Linux, Web
